Spring is a wonderful time.
Subtle changes are all around. The dark, cold winter jacket that enveloped the Chippewa Valley for the past six months ever so slowly begins to give way. In its place, daylight begins poking in through the bedroom shades a bit earlier every day.
As the last hard mound of snow disappears, lawns begin showing delicate traces of green. Flocks of geese find their way north.
These changes flow as naturally as water down the hills, eventually to make its way into the Chippewa River.
Similar changes take place every day in the business world. Sometimes, the change is subtle; other times, it is breathtaking.
This month’s issue of the Chippewa Valley Business Report examines companies involved in re-inventing the way they do business. Like Mother Nature, these companies don’t sit still, but are always in the process of rebirth, reinvention, and even revolution.
Among the stories you’ll find in this issue are:
— Charlie Grossklaus leading RCU in a rebirth of the riverfront in Eau Claire.
— Cray Inc.’s coming full circle, and those whose passion is keeping the legacy of Seymour Cray alive.
— DBD International, a Menomonie company that helps businesses reinvent their images to drive the market — and improve their bottom lines.
— The Goldridge Group, which buys underutilized properties, infuses money and creative concepts, and turns them back into productive commercial enterprises.
— Huebsch, a deeply rooted local firm that dances to the beat of a different drummer, finding success by adopting a “smaller is better” concept.
— The next big thing in high tech to hit the Chippewa Valley — the drive to form a partnership between business, education and government to make nanotechnology a major force.
— And the revolution in transportation that’s just around the bend.
This is an exciting time to be a part of the Chippewa Valley. Forces are in motion that will determine the success of our region for decades to come. You’ll find all these stories and so much more inside the spring edition of the Chippewa Valley Business Report.
